NAU complies with the university’s online requirement and the Federal Student Authentication Regulations requiring online institutions to implement processes that establish that the student who registers in an online course is the same student participating in, completing, and receiving academic credit for the course. Students must log into a secure portal to access the learning management system by entering unique user ID and password. Without these identifiers, students are unable to access online courses and student support resources. The university's policies regarding academic integrity and acceptable use of IT services include penalties for unauthorized use of another individual’s name and password and for engaging in academic dishonesty. Additionally, NAU may intersperses proctored experiences and synchronized course assignments across each degree program to further ensure student identity.
