EdD Student Transfer Credits

In addition to the transfer credit conditions applied above, the EdD student can have a total of six trimester hours of doctoral transfer credits. A transfer credit review committee will review transcripts received with doctoral applications and transfer credit requests received from students. Additional credits may be awarded under exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances will be based on clearly documented review by the relevant doctoral transfer credit review committee with subsequent review by subject matter expert faculty and/or the associate provost and graduate dean as determined necessary by the review committee. The following conditions apply:

  • All such courses must have been completed at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or at an international institution of higher education that is approved by the appropriate national ministry of education or recognized country equivalent. Transcripts from other organizations may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • All courses must be doctoral level and relevant to the student’s area of study.
  • Courses included in a program of study, which were taken more than five years prior to admission to the program must be repeated or validated as to currency by the candidate.  Contact the associate provost and graduate dean to obtain the validation procedures.
  • Any course to be transferred into a program of study must have been completed with at least a "B" grade.
